Chili Soya | Chili Soyabean | Soya Chili chunks - A gluten free Vegan Indo Chinese Recipe
The delicious and mouthwatering Chili Soybean or Chili Soya is not a Chinese recipe but we can describe it as an Indo Chinese recipe which is gluten free and vegan. This is packed with soya protein and highly nutritious. Hence this recipe fits with the healthy style of this blog. It is a good recipe for kids as well.
Let’s start the recipe without any delay:-
Preparation Time: - 10~15 min
Cooking Time: - 25 min
Servings: - 1~2 persons
Ingredients:-
- 1 cup ( 250 gm) Soya Chunks
- 1 ½ tsp White Vinegar
- 3 sticks of Spring Onion
- 4 tbsp sunflower oil
- 1 medium sized chopped Onion
- 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste (you can use grinded ginger and garlic if you have more time – taste is better)
- 1 small size chopped green Bell pepper / Capsicum
- 3 lengthwise slit whole green chili (you can use more number if you like it spicy)
- 1 tsp Kashmiri Red Chili powder ( you can use more if you are spice lover)
- 2 tbsp tomato sauce
- 2 tsp Soya sauce
- 1 tbsp green Chili sauce (optional)
- 1 tsp Sugar (optional)
- Pinch of Ajinomoto (I do not prefer for health reason)
- 1 ½ tbsp corn flower if you want a thicker gravy
- Salt to taste
Preparation: -
- Take boiling hot water in a bowl, add soya chunks in it and let it rest till the soya chunks are soft. Squeeze the chunks to remove the froth few times as the froth can cause indigestion or stomach upset.
- Once they are soft squeeze out the excess water from the soya bean and keep it aside.
- Chop onion, tomatoes, capsicum.
- Transfer the dried soya chunks in mixing bowl.
- Add ½ tbsp. ginger garlic paste, Kashmiri red chili powder, salt and ¾ tbsp corn flower.
- Mix everything well, add little water if required. Keep aside for 10~12 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan, once hot add marinated soya chunks and fry till golden brown from all sides.
- Take it out on a kitchen towel to remove the excess oil.
- Heat oil in another pan add onions and cook for few seconds till they turn translucent
- Then add remaining ginger garlic paste and let it cook till the raw smell of garlic goes.
- Add spring onion and capsicum – sauté for couple of minutes
- Pour soya sauce and mix well.
- Add tomato sauce and red/green chili sauce according to your taste. Continue cooking
- Take the remaining corn flour and dissolve in ½ cup water.
- Pour it in the mixture, keep stirring, and add salt, sugar & vinegar as needed.
- This time you can add chili powder etc. as per your spicy tongue. I added 3 green chili slit lengthwise here.
- Mix and cook until the gravy thickens according to your liking
- Switch off the flame and cool little bit.
- Add the marinated soya chunks and mix thoroughly. Sprinkle crushed black pepper or powder.
- Garnish with spring onion. When I was preparing for this recipe I did not have spring onion though. Hence they are missing from the picture.
Now your yummy Chili soya is ready to consume.
Serve hot with fried rice(preferably Chinese) or noodles.
